Spirit Dog Wellness Center
About

Throughout my life, I've worked with animals in a variety of environments and capacities -- from internships at the Oregon Zoo and Finley National Wildlife Refuge; volunteering and working at various animal shelters, boarding kennels and grooming facilities; to wildlife rehabilitation. I spent the greater part of 2023 focusing in on canine massage and acupressure through courses offered by the Northwest School of Animal Massage. Comprehensive coursework, in-person practicals and 50+ case studies provided me with the foundational knowledge and experience to successfully earn my NBCAAM certification in small animal massage and Washington state license to practice.

The name Spirit Dog encompasses why working with animals and particularly dogs is my passion. Like a Spirit Animal, Spirit Guide or Animal Totem, there's no other companion animal quite like a dog. Our unique interspecies relationship has evolved over thousands of years into beautiful and mutually beneficial individual relationships with each dog in our life. Dogs have become our family members, and we have become part of their pack. It's a loving bond that transcends species, and yet we're able to communicate with and learn from one another, sometimes better than with other humans. To be able to work with dogs every day, form those special bonds, enrich their lives, and lengthen their time with us is an absolute pleasure. As Mrs. Bucket (it's Bouquet!) says,

"I love dogs. I'm never happier than when I'm frolicking with dogs!"

When I'm not working with dogs, you'd probably find me outdoors with my partner Chris and our three dogs, Luna Bear, Chetro and Phurba, all wonderful senior dogs. I also enjoy hiking, yoga, working out, swimming, running, climbing, reading, traveling, art, piano, and cuddling with my dogs.

Thanks for reading and supporting!
